What I'm Passionate About
Women's health has a research gap problem.
For decades, the majority of clinical trials excluded women — particularly women in midlife. That means a lot of what gets handed down as standard care was designed for male bodies, then applied to everyone else. The result? Symptoms that are real, common, and treatable often get dismissed as anxiety, aging, or lifestyle issues.
Hot flashes, brain fog, disrupted sleep, mood changes, joint pain, weight shifts, and changes in libido are not "just part of aging." They are physiological. They have mechanisms. And in most cases, they are treatable.
The clinical landscape around hormone therapy has changed significantly since the early 2000s. The 2023 Menopause Society guidelines, growing research on the benefits of estrogen and progesterone for cardiovascular health, bone density, and cognitive function, and updated understanding of individualized risk have shifted the picture substantially.
Hormones don't operate in isolation. Thyroid function, cortisol, sleep quality, metabolic health, nutrition, and stress all interact with the hormonal shifts of perimenopause. I ask about all of it — and I treat the whole person, not just the presenting symptom.
